Creating Accessible Community Facilities for People with Disabilities are a series of seminars designed to assist participants in using the DESSA accessibility guidelines ‘Creating Accessible Community Facilities for People with Disabilities’. The seminars are run on request made to DESSA from Family Resource Centres and Community Development Projects from around the country. The seminars address how equality legislation applies to community organisations and people with disabilities and support participants in identifying practical actions for including people with disabilities within their projects.
At the end of the seminar participants:
The seminar runs for three to four hours and consist of presentations, small group work, experiential learning activities and plenary discussions. Participants use the guidelines ‘Creating Accessible Community Facilities for People with Disabilities’ during the course of each seminar.
