Step 2 - Step Forward Training

Who is the Training for?

The training is targeted at local disabled people who are interested in disability issues and want to become more informed so that they can start to take steps to influence policy and effect change locally and nationally.

Aim

To facilitate training to a group of local people with a particular interest in making changes on disability issues through practical advocacy and community based pathways.

How long is the Training?

The training is one day per week for eight weeks.

Who has funded the Training?

There have been various sources of funding; Department of Social & Family Affairs, Combat Poverty, Partnership Companies, Dep. Community Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs.

Outcomes of Training

  • Participants remain as a group and establish a strategic focus as a community based disability group.
  • Participants develop clear understanding of disability in the context of equality
  • Participants explore further community pathways to training and capacity building as individuals and as a group.
  • CDPs and FRCs develop an understanding of disability equality processes which are community base
