Disability Equality

This workshop examines issues regarding the ways disabled people are treated in everyday life, exploring stereotypes, myths and misconceptions, and will look disability perspectives including the Charity, Medical, Social and Human Rights models.

It will support participants to reflect on their personal and professional attitudes to disability.

At the end of the training participants will be able to:

  • Understand the medical and social models of disability
  • Gain an understanding of the barriers that disabled people experience in everyday life
  • Learn practical ways to remove barriers to participation
  • Use the correct terminology when communicating about and with disabled people
  • Be confident and inclusive when interacting and providing supports to students with additional needs

The training is delivered over one full day. A maximum number of 20 people can participate in this programme.
